Prairie Wind Palominos

We are expanding our cross-breeding program with the addition of THREE Arabian mares, with an eye toward developing a Half-Arab "department." So, we will have purebred QHs (Skipper W emphasis, of course); Appendix QHs, at least one Iberian, and NOW, Half-Arabs!! Our ultimate goal is to produce 100% palominos as soon as our homegrown Skipper W Cremello stallion, The Cloud Prince, is "of age."

Here are our three new gals:

First, we are bringing in SS Patsy Cline, a chestnut tobiano from
Setting Sun Stables of Wakarusa, Indiana. Patsy is AHA registered as a Half-Arabian (she is actually 3/4 Arabian, 1/4 QH), and she was schooled by respected trainer Joe Reser. She is calm, loving, respectful, and just all around adorable!

Next, we will be joined by WH Mistfy, a purebred Arabian mare from Arizona who has had limited showing but was always in the ribbons. We think she's pretty perfect:

Finally, from Silver Wind Arabians in Cedar Creek, Texas, comes JB Bling Thing, also a purebred Arabian. She's another looker. Here she is in a training session:

Our Tia Dia

With Our Tia Dia (b. 2005), a stunning thoroughbred mare from Echo Hill Sport Horses of Louisville, Kentucky, we are expanding our palomino breeding program to include appendix Quarter Horses (TB x QH), as well as warmblood outcrosses such as Iberians (TB x Lusitano/Andalusian). With a pedigree including such greats as Northern Dancer and Petardia, Tia had a short racing career before she injured her knee, from which she has recovered. She has already produced an exquisite filly. Tia is a gentle, gorgeous girl who is going to love her relaxed life in our herd.

Tia is expecting a foal by Desert Skippa in April 2012. Here she is on December 16, 2011, with enlarging belly:

She's a solid and well-proportioned 15.1 HH athlete who stops on a dime, is sensitive to her cues, and has even jumped an XC course. On top of everything, she's a sweetheart who has one of the quickest, brightest minds you can imagine. She's just plain awesome, and we're looking forward to some great rides and fantastic babies!
